Making Trash Trendy
When you reach the cardboard center of a paper-towel roll, most head for the recycle bin, but Miranda Johnson of Eastern Kentucky University treasured her cardboard tubes as a fashion find! Johnson was part of EKU’s “Trash Fash”, an environmentally friendly fashion show that had models strutting the catwalk in recycled-material garments.
Ultimately, the designer’s creations took the spotlight. Made of everything from garbage bags to rusted metal, their innovative take proved trash trendy.
Over 300 people attended the high-energy event that had more than 25 models dancing, twirling, and posing for the audience. One of EKU’s Arts and Sciences deans could not resist the fun and joined in before the show was over!
